"No amount of money is worth driving you insane and making you hate your job." Very true, but how about the clients who drive you insane by always promising to pay you "in a few days," or "as soon as things pick up," only to hear them talk about paying some directory $600 a month!

If you work with other people on a project, try and do it with friends... Sure you have moment where you want to kill each other, but others on the project can give you that bump of motivation when you need it.... That's how we survive. It's all friends who formed a company together...

Wow this is nice article. I am using few of these tips already .. But still cann't do 100% of best ..
so still trying..
btw i would like to mention here .. i changed my habits of reading rss feeds, emails and fb and twitter tweets by doing an analysis . I used time manic software .. really helpful for me . it showed me that i am surfing almost 70% of my time. then i changed some habits and slowly i made it up to 40% .. i have separated browsing and testing browsers as i am web designer too. It helps me to separate my work browser session and surf browser sessions...
thanks for sharing tips ..

I'm totally at #16. I have a client that brings me regular work, but sometimes the frustration that they bring isn't worth the money. Then they want a quick turn around which then jumps to #2 "Doing so will not only stall your motivation but even worse it will produce unacceptable work." Often the work I do for them they love, but I don't and I feel my creative juices rotting away.

One thing I do is remember why I'm doing it - for my family. If some part of work is going to cause me issues with the family in some way I minimize that. Sometimes that means letting others win battles that aren't worth it to me to fight. Sometimes that has meant telling clients goodbye. And sometimes that makes others angry when I don't give an automatic "yes" to everything.
